Wearing make up everyday is just a massive no from me, especially now with having to wear a face covering the majority of the day it really just seems pointless to me. That and I’m also too lazy to do a full face of makeup. A lot of my products are drugstore price, I have this sort of resentment of paying a lot of money on a makeup product that I haven’t tried just incase I don’t like it. Which is a very backwards idea because what if I love it? Either way, I thought I’d share with you the make up I do wear whenever I make the effort.
So primer wise I don’t really care that much for primers, most of the time I just use my moisturiser however if I do use a primer I like to use pore filling ones as I have combination skin so I feel like these sort of primers work best at keeping my oils at bay. My favourite primers are the e.l.f Poreless Face primer or the Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser. The Elf primer to me feels a little less slippery when applying and I feel my make up blends a little better with this primer, however I love them both, they both blur my pores and help keep my oily t-zone at bay.
Foundation wise, I use a lot of different foundations such as the Revolution Conceal and Define Foundation or the Lottie London Selfie Ready Foundation which both offer a medium to full coverage and blend super nicely, however my all time favourite foundation is this L’Oreal Infallible 24HR Fresh Wear Foundation. I love the finish of this foundation, it covers everything I need it to cover but it doesn’t leave my skin looking flat. It has a very subtle glow to the skin but also is matte enough to keep my chin and foundation looking flawless all day. I wear this foundation when I need my foundation to last as long as possible because this is the only foundation I’ve tried that doesn’t separate on my chin or nose.
For concealer I use the e.l.f 16hr Camo Concealer. It’s a thick concealer but not too thick it leaves my under eyes cakey. It gives me enough coverage to cover any dark circles or blemishes I have on my skin and blends out seamlessly. It almost feels like I have nothing on my skin once it’s blended out which I love. To set my under eyes or any oily patches I have I use the Revolution Loose Baking Powder. Loose powders are always a struggle for me, all the loose powders I’ve used in the past they’ve either left my under eyes looking so dry and crease into my fines line or they leave awful flash backs. However this powder is so lightweight once I’ve set everything I can’t even feel the powder on my face. It also doesn’t go weird and separate when I apply with my sponge which some loose powders I’ve used before. The only down side I have with this powder, if my eyes water and a tear streams down, the powder almost disappears and you can see every little stream of water down my face. I’ve bad struggles with this when it’s been so windy my eyes stream and the powder definitely doesn’t hold well with water or anything wet, however it’s a very rare occasion so I love using it. To set the rest of my face I use the Collection Pressed Powder. This is just a basic powder but works at what I need it to do. It keeps everything matte and locks my foundation in place.
For blush, bronzer and eyeshadow I use the same palette for all three. The Revolution X Rachel Leary Ultimate Goddess Palette is my favourite palette as it can be used in so many different ways and has something in it for everyone. I mix the bronzer shades ‘bronde’ and ‘bronze glow’ for my bronzer as they have the pigment to give me the colour in my face I need but the glow shade has the shimmer to give you the summer glow I love. I never used to use blush either until this palette so I use the shade ‘perfect peach’ very lightly over my cheeks just to give me the ‘flushed’ little glow. I also use this palette for eyeshadow if I ever make the effort. I love using the bronzer shades for my crease shades and then adding a shimmer shade all over the lid. It’s a super simple look but the pigment in the shadows makes it look so good!
For highlight I use a little highlight I randomly picked up one day on a wing, I think it was around £2 or something so I wasn’t holding out much hope for it, however I love it! I use the Essence ‘the highlighter’. It gives such a nice natural looking glow it almost looks like it comes from your skin itself. I was expecting it to be quite powdery but it blends so nicely and for the price, I would definitely recommend it! Brow wise, I’m so bad at doing my brows so I don’t really like to do a lot to them, luckily when I tint my eyebrows they already have a decent-ish shape so I don’t have to do too much. I just use this Colour Pro Brow Kit I found whilst shopping in The Range, I think it was around £3 and it contained a brow crayon and a brow gel. For someone with little experience in doing their brows it works perfectly well for me.
For mascara I use the Maybelline Lash Sensational. The one I have currently is the waterproof edition however usually I just use the normal one as this waterproof one takes so long to get off. I mean if you definitely don’t want your mascara running at any point during the day this is the one for you however, I like to make removing my make up as easy as possible. I love this mascara because I love the shape of the brush. It’s almost curved so it makes easier to get right into the corners of my lash line making sure I can get every lash coated. This mascara also doesn’t print on my eyelids throughout the day which is a bonus because I hate mascaras that do that.
Setting sprays I used to always think were a gimmick and never worked however, after using this I can vouch it definitely does help my make up stay on longer. My boyfriend bought me this Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray for Christmas and I still have loads of the bottle left! It lasts for such a long time so it definitely is worth the price. I tried this for the first time a couple of years ago and the smell of it reminded me of the Mayo you get in KFC burgers so I put me off using it, however I’ve kind of learnt to ignore the smell because it does work so well.
This post definitely ended up being longer than expected, so if you’ve made it to the end, thank you! I hope you enjoyed this post, let me know if you use any of these products or what your go to make up products are!
