make up products I was using throughout lockdown.
If you, like me, are a fellow uk resident you will be experiencing the third lockdown in all it’s glory. In my opinion, probably the worst lockdown, the weather is gross, it’s cold, it’s dark and there’s no motivation for life at all. However, what I’ve discovered is doing things in a routine has somehow given structure to my very repetitive days. Doing my little ‘lockdown makeup routine’ for example, I’m not going anywhere, I’m not seeing anyone, I’m not doing anything exciting but doing my make up, 1) wastes some time and 2) makes me feel less of a slob, which is definitely what I have been resembling for the majority of lockdown.

I don’t do anything crazy and half the time I don’t even do any to be honest but when I do, this is what I do so I thought I’d share it on the blog.

Okay, so first I do my skincare, which has significantly gotten smaller recently because my skin has been soo reactive, every little thing I use on my face is just irritating my skin or breaking my chin out even more than it already is, so that’s fun :)

L’Oréal skin paradise tinted water cream
The first thing I use is this L’Oréal Paris Skin Paradise Tinted Water-Cream. I bought this ages ago because I saw so many people in the summer talking about how good it was and it looks just like your skin but better so, obviously I bought it. When I first used it, I hated it I thought it was soo orange considering I gave the shade ‘Light 02’ it was very orange and definitely didn’t match my neck. However I have learnt that a little definitely goes a long way and I use my beauty blender sponge to blend it in which definitely helps take away the orange-ness. When it’s all blended in I actually love how it makes my skin look, there’s definitely some coverage to it but nothing crazy, it does like people said, look like your skin but better. It definitely gives your skin a glow, but I have oily skin so I powder my face down but even then, it leaves you looking healthy and glowy. If I repurchase this, I think I’ll try the shade down to see if it matches my neck better, the shade I have now matches me with fake tan.

collection lasting perfection concealer
I then go in with my concealer. I was using this Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer months ago, before they rebranded it with new packaging and more shades. I felt like the ‘old’ version was a lot thicker and had slightly more coverage than this one. I don’t know if it’s because I would sometimes mix the e.l.f Camo Concealer with it, but even without mixing them I definitely felt the older version was thicker. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy using this concealer, it’s brightening and glowy it just doesn’t give me the coverage I like, especially under my eyes as I have quite dark circles which I want covered. If anyone has any concealers they recommend please let me know!

Laura mercier translucent setting powder

Like I said, I have oily skin so I definitely have to powder the majority of my face or I look like a greasy mess within an hour. I’ve been using this Laura Mercier Translucent Powder recently and I honestly love it. I’ve wanted this powder for so long but never bought it myself because for a powder it’s so expensive in my eyes, but it definitely does live up to it’s hype. I use this under my eyes, on my chin, my forehead and my nose as they’re the places that need powdering the most and it gives off the smoothest base ever. Some powders I’ve used have a chalky consistency to them or leave a white dust looking residue. This definitely doesn’t do that, I use it so sparingly as well, you definitely don’t need a lot of this product which I guess is a bonus because it’ll last a long time.

collection colour lash clear mascara
After I’ve powdered down my face, I just like to brush through my brows with this Collection Colour Lash Mascara. I just use the clear one to brush through my brows to give them a little shape and keep them place throughout the day. I tint my brows at home so I don’t really need a lot of coverage in my brows so this does the trick. Especially in the middle of a lockdown, I don’t need bold crazy eyebrows to sit and watch Keeping up with the Kardashians.

Usually I’ll just leave it there, if I’m feeling lazy, but sometimes if I want to top it up a little I’ll go in with my bronzer and highlight from the Revolution x Rachel Leary Ultimate Goddess Palette

Revolution x Rachel Leary ultimate goddess palette
I use the shade ‘Bronde’ and ‘Bronze Glow’ just all over the places I would usually bronze up. I like adding in the ‘Bronze Glow’ shade as it has a tiny bit of shimmer in it so it gives my skin back the glow I lost a little from setting it down with powder. I’m quite pale and these colours work perfect on my skin colour, they don’t come off orange and you can build up the coverage which I love. I also use the highlight from this palette too, I mix the shades ‘Glazed’ and ‘Aphrodite’ together and just use that on my cheekbones, nose and inner corner. I love these highlights, some highlights I’ve used leave a shadow on my face if I’m facing forward but these just melt into the products underneath and leave such a gorgeous glow. Revolution definitely do the best highlights if you’re looking for a budget choice.

Maybelline lash sensational sky high mascara

And then finally, I go in with mascara. Now I don’t use mascara everyday, I just think it’s so much effort to take off at the end of the day and my eyes are quite sensitive at the moment so rubbing my eyes is just not a vibe. However, this mascara is insane. This is the ever famous Maybelline Lash Sensational Sky High Mascara. I think this mascara blew up on tik tok, which I mean rightly so, this mascara leaves my lashes soo long and wispy! I’m always sceptical about mascaras because the only mascara I really love is the original Maybelline Lash Sensational. So seeing as the Sky High one was part of the lash sensational collection I decided to give it a go. The wand itself is super bendy and thin so you’re able to get right to the root of your lashes and basically comb then through with the product. This doesn’t leave a black print under my eyes or on my eyelids like some mascaras I’ve used before and it doesn’t flake off throughout the day. This mascara definitely is worth the hype if you’re looking for a new mascara that gives you length and volume.

That is all I use on my face for my ‘lockdown makeup routine’, when I can be bothered and don’t want to feel like a slob. Let me know if you’ve been doing your makeup throughout lockdown or are you staying fresh faced. Thanks for reading!!

  3. Just added that water cream to my list. It seems PERFECT for holiday (if we get to travel this year) and I hate using foundation abroad but I still like a little something on my face. Some lovely products you have shared. xx
