We’re heading to New York City next Sunday ( omg ) after what seems like the longest and most stressful wait ever! At one point we’d accepted that we wouldn’t be seeing the inside of an airport this year until they announced about the borders reopening on the 8th November!

New York at Christmas time has always been a life long dream of mine and to finally be able to go, it’s going to be amazing! Although certain circumstances put a dark cloud over the experience with personal and worldwide issues, I’m determined to have the best time and have an amazing end to 2021! I thought I’d share what we’ve already booked this side of the trip for anyone that was interested in what we have planned or if anyone is planning a trip to New York!

The first thing we booked was actually an Ice Hockey game! We originally wanted to watch a basketball game as they seems like the top thing to do when in New York however the games that are happening the week we are there are either the day we arrive or the day we go home, so neither are good timing haha! The game we’re watching is ‘Colorado Avalanche v New York Rangers’. We booked these tickets a while ago which worked out about £95 each ticket. Which in everyday life I would say seems expensive to me for a ticket to watch a game I know nothing about, however it’s at Madison Square Garden ( again, omg! ) and it’s a once in a lifetime experience so why not!

We also booked the ‘Lights of Dyker Heights tour’. Obviously, as it’s going to be Christmas time  when we go, I couldn’t go to New York and not experience all the crazy Christmas lights displays! We booked our tour through A slice of Brooklyn bus tours, which worked out around £44 each! This includes a bus drive to Dyker Heights from Manhattan and then a walk around the neighbourhood! If you haven’t looked at photos of Dyker Heights at Christmas time, you need to!

We also pre-booked the ‘GoCity: New York Explorer Pass’. Obviously in New York there’s so much to do and so much to see in a limited amount of time, we debated between this pass and the New York Pass for ages. We narrowed down to what attractions we wanted to do and worked out that the Go City pass worked out best for us and it was cheaper. We narrowed down the attractions to the Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty, Top of the Rock observatory, 9/11 Memorial & Museum & Ripleys believe it or not! These seemed like the typical ‘New York tourist’ attractions and the ones we were most excited to.

We haven’t actually booked this one, but we’ve scheduled it into our plan and that’s a trip to The Mills at Jersey Gardens. I’ve heard such good things about this shopping centre and I’m pretty sure the majority are outlet stores which I love! I visited an outlet shopping centre when we went to Orlando and it was the best shopping place ever so much better than the uk ahaha!

The last thing I can remember off the top of my head for booking this side is, Aladdin! We’re going to see Aladdin live at the New Amsterdam Theatre. I’m honestly so excited, it was a toss up between The Lion King and Aladdin. The Lion King definitely seemed like the more popular show out of the two, which reflected the prices of tickets. We paid around £58 each for our tickets to see Aladdin which I didn’t think was too bad! We didn’t opt for a Christmas show because I don’t think we’d enjoy it as much as something like this so I’m super excited to watch this! We booked this through Ticketmaster.

I think that’s everything we’ve booked for our trip to New York! Have you ever been to New York? Let me know what your favourite thing in New York is / would be!

Thank you for reading, this is a little different to the posts I’d typically post. I really want to blog about our trip so hopefully this will be the first of many posts.
