I thought I’d do a little post on how to spend a day in New York as I couldn’t seem to find any blog posts or anything before coming out here so I’m hoping maybe this could help someone or inspire someone! Our first full day in New York was jam packed! I woke up at 5am thinking I’d escaped the jet lag from going to sleep around half 9 the night before, however I was up at 5am watching Twilight on the tv lol! I laid around in bed until 7am and then decided to get up and shower for the day. We left the hotel around 8am and headed for breakfast at the Tick Tock diner. This diner gave me such old school American vibes, it was okay priced not too expensive but definitely not the cheapest options. I got the three buttermilk pancakes and added bacon, Luke got the french toast with fried eggs and bacon.
After breakfast we wandered around for a few hours finding all the Christmas decorations such as the Rockefeller tree and Radio City. I’d seen these decorations everywhere on Instagram lately so to be able to see them in person was amazing! The Rockefeller tree really is as amazing in person as it is in photos!
We then just carried on strolling through the streets and ended up at Central Park unintentionally. We spent a few hours just wandering around taking everything in. Everywhere just looked so surreal!
We then ended up actually going to the Top of the Rock observation deck. We originally went in to reserve a late slot to see everything in the dark but the guy printed a ticket for then so we done it during the day. It was actually so much fun being able to see the whole of New York from so high up!
After the top of the rock, we both decided a pizza slice was needed for lunch and we headed back to the room for a bit. It was only half 2 at this point but we felt like we’d been out all day! We had a table booked at the Hard Rock Cafe, so we headed there around 4ish, the food was okay, nothing to write home about! We had 2 cocktails each, personally I thought it was very over priced for what it was but it’s an experience to visit these places.
Finally the last thing on the agenda today was the
Empire State Building. I’m so glad we done this one in the evening when it’s dark because the whole of New York lit up looked amazing! Despite the wind when we got the top floor it was sooo worth it!
Another long post so again, thank you if you got this far haha!! I hope you enjoyed my post on how to spend a day in New York! Let me know if you’ve done anything before! :-)
See u in the next post!

DeleteWOW! The Rockefeller Christmas Tree is right up there with things I'd like to see if I ever get to visit New York. Does it look as impressive in person as it does in films? I think Hard Rock is all about the name more than anything else. My friend lived in NYC for a while so if I do visit I'll be asking her for a list of places to visit and maybe those to avoid too! Another friend used to live on the Upper West near Riverside Park so a lot of the places in You've Got Mail were really close to where she lived. Looks like you had a great time, can't wait to hear more about your trip!
ReplyDeleteIt’s soo big! It’s such a magical tree especially with the ice skating rink in front of it! It can get really crowded though so if you ever go I’d suggest going early morning when there’s not many people around! Yeah I’ve heard Hard Rock Cafes are more for the ‘experience’ than the actual food! Oh that sounds amazing, I hope you have the best time if you ever get to go! X
DeleteI am so ready to run away to New York - especially at Christmas. I am living my dreams through you right now!
