New York travel day part 2 |

Travel day is here!! Woke up at 7am after only getting around 6 hours sleep, spent the evening in the Premier Inn bar which was needed after travelling to the hotel! Managed to get a bus straight away outside the hotel which took us straight to terminal 5. It was £6 each which is the most expensive bus ever but we would’ve paid the same for a taxi / Uber so it was fine! Was literally the easiest trip to the airport ever and only took about 5 minutes. 

We got to the airport and it was so quiet! Compared to how hectic airports are that I’m used to being in when I go on holiday, this felt so chilled! There was a fast track queue for ‘Verifly’ app users which I highly recommend using if you’re flying British Airways. All of our covid documents / vaccination status was uploaded to this app which made it super quick for check in. Check in was super easy and quick too just a quick check of the passport and the bags were through!

Security took a little longer because I forgot liquids in almost every bag! Staying over the night before there was little things I’d forgot I’d chucked in the bags when leaving for the airport. Everything was fine after being checked and we were good to go! Spotted the Harry Potter store after security so obviously had to have a little look inside! 

We headed to the Wetherspoons for breakfast, standard English breakfast. Service was super quick and easy all through the app. 

Breakfast was finished quite quick so we decided to have a little wander around the airport duty free. There’s a lot of designer brands at Heathrow airport! We didn’t get anything from duty free, however I did get this ‘Being Britney’ book from WHSmiths to read on the plane. 

We went to our gate number after WHSmiths and boarding was pretty quick actually. They boarded in groups so it was easier and less people at once. We got on the plane and in our seats and we had an empty seat next to us! The plane got delayed by about an hour which wasn’t ideal so take off took a while. 

The flight itself was ok we had a few little turbulence bits but nothing major. The food was pretty basic as is all plane food so I didn’t really eat much on the plane. The food that was brought round for us was a ‘baked chicken pie’ which was essentially just chicken pieces topped with potato. The only thing I did like was the mini bag of pretzels lol! They did offer round drinks quite frequently which was nice! Towards the end of the flight they offered ‘coronation chicken’ or ‘cream cheese and cucumber’ sandwiches. I didn’t eat either but luke ate both!

After we landed, customs / security was actually pretty quick! I was expecting to be there for hours but it was pretty smooth. There was a delay in our ‘shared shuttle transfer’ which just ended up being a taxi basically. All sorted and straight to the hotel! The roads in New York are crazy!! I would definitely not drive here ever lol!  Checked into our hotel StayPineapple Midtown New York. Its the cutest hotel ever! It’s pretty small but the decor is stunning!

We spent a few hours wandering around to see everything and to try and delay our sleep to try and beat the jet lag. New York is crazy! We had dinner at Popeyes. Nothing crazy as we’re getting our bearings and wanted something quick and easy. We went back to the hotel after dinner and relaxed for the rest of the night!
